CCMA training is designed to prepare students to work in multiple healthcare settings.
Medical assistants perform various clinical tasks to assist doctors including helping with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. The CRC partners with Ivy Tech Bloomington to provide this 14-week course.
Cost: This course is currently free through Ivy Tech’s IU Health Grant.

CNA training is ideal for gaining direct experience with patient care, or for those who wish to test their interest in healthcare as a career.
Our CNA program prepares you for work in the healthcare field by providing hands-on lab experiences and clinical rotations at Brown County Health and Living, a local residential care facility. Classes last for 9.5 weeks and cover topics like taking vital signs, feeding, bathing, dressing, and moving patients safely. includes classroom

The Career Resource Center offers a 3-part Electrical Training course to help you prepare for the National Electrical Code (NEC) Block Test to become a licensed Master Electrician.
This course will teach you the basics of residential and commercial electrical work and cover topics on the Master Electrician licensing exam. This class only includes in-person coursework at the CRC. On-the-job hours should be completed on your own time before taking the licensing exam. The exam is not included in the course. Each session is twelve weeks long. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 – 9:00 PM at the CRC.

Session 2: Basic Electricity 2 & Motor Controls
Session 3: National Electrical Code Review & Master Electrician Block Test Preparation

Tech+ provides a valuable overview of careers in the IT field, as well as the foundational skills needed to navigate today’s digital world.
The CRC acts as a satellite location for this 10-week course which is livestreamed by an Ivy Tech professor in Bloomington. Students in this class are part of an 11-county cohort which provides the chance to learn from industry professionals while building connections with others from across the region. This class teaches in-demand technology skills such as using notational systems, applying basic troubleshooting methods, managing encryption and digital safety, and working with artificial intelligence systems.

The Phlebotomy Technician training is ideal for those in the healthcare field who want more extensive training on drawing and testing blood and other specimens.
Students in the phlebotomy training class will receive hands-on instruction to prepare for the National Health Association Phlebotomy Technician exam. Instruction will cover the major topics needed to obtain a job as a phlebotomy technician including: healthcare structure, safety, infection control, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, human body systems, setting up for and conducting venipuncture, blood collection, blood draw complications, specimen handling and processing, and blood testing. During the final week of the course, students will review for the phlebotomy technician exam before testing on the final day of class.

This course will prepare you for an entry-level HVAC technician position.
HVAC training covers topics on the exam for the EPA 608 certification, which must be held by technicians who handle refrigerants. This course is offered as a hybrid, face-to-face and distance education course. In the first phase of training, you will prepare for the North American Technician Excellence Ready-To-Work Certificate by studying component identification, tools, math and measurement, general safety, electrical safety, and basic heat transfer. You will also do some workforce preparation activities. When you have completed Phase I, you will enter the second phase of training. You will use an online course to learn core definitions, small appliances, high pressure appliances, and low pressure appliances in preparation for the EPA 608 certification exam. This course is offered remotely at the CRC in partnership with Broadview Learning Center in Bloomington.
Cost: May be free to those who are eligible through WorkOne. If not eligible, the cost is $3,370.

QuickBooks for Small Businesses is an introductory course on how to use QuickBooks Online for your accounting needs.
This is an introductory course designed to familiarize participants with the features and uses of QuickBooks. Instruction will focus on the QuickBooks Online version. A follow-up consultation with the instructor is available after the 3-day course. We run this course about once a year, or based on demand. *This class does not result in a certification.
